After a lovely Easter holiday I started my work placement with designer Elizabeth Lau. I started the week with meeting her at her London studio, we discussed the ideas and plans she has for my time with her and wanted my opinions and visions too. As Elizabeth knows that my main interests lie in photography we kept this in mind when thinking of projects for me to do for her Autumn/ Winter 2012 collection. My first job was to photoshop pictures Elizabeth had taken for her blog, size them and create layouts with them for her posts. Another job I did this week was to take photographs of many of her garments on a mannequin for the online shop which will be launched soon. I really enjoyed this as i got to work with the actual designs so got to feel the fabrics, but what excited me most was steaming them! When I was taking the photographs I kept in mind that the images had to be constant with lighting and composition. As the images are for the online shop I had the idea to take closer shots of the details in her designs. I then spent a lot of time editing the images to make sure the lighting and sizing was uniform throughout all images. Another job I had been doing throughout the week was looking for models that would be fitting to any shoots I would get to do. Overall my first week working with Elizabeth had been extremely enjoyable. I feel really happy and inspired working with Elizabeth and so am excited for the weeks to come!
